Historischer Fasskeller

A HISTORICAL GUEST ROOM WITH A UNIQUE AMBIANCE

By mentioning the wine cellar in Goethe's classical work "Faust," one can claim that it is the most famous dining area in Germany.

The room is still preserved today exactly as it was experienced by generations of guests before and after Goethe's time. The old wall paintings, transferred onto panels in 1912/14, preserve the atmosphere of the historic space for future generations. Instead of a chandelier, the room is adorned with a giant witch ride carved from a single tree trunk. A valuable historic wine barrel completes the ambiance in line with the history. According to legend, the magician Johann Faust rode a similar barrel out of this cellar.

If the cellar master or the actors reenact the historic scene in a "barrel cellar ceremony," your celebration in our vaults will become an unforgettable experience.

The Historical Fasskeller is only available to up to 46 guests by prior reservation and booking of one of our "Barrel Cellar Ceremonies".

Fasskeller-ceremony bookable from 25 people!

When the cellar master or the actors reenact the historical scene in a "cellar ceremony," your celebration in our vaults becomes an unforgettable experience. For this, there are two options available: the "Anno Domini 1525" cellar ceremony and the Auerbachs Keller cellar ceremony.
